Pacific Valley Foods invited to participate in joint legislative committee
on international trade
Pacific Valley Foods was one of two private agricultural companies in Washington State invited to participate in discussions regarding Washington State export promotion and trade policy. Also In attendance were Senator Paul Shin and Senator Jim Kastama, Representative Phyllis Gutierrez Kenny, Washington State port commissioners, house and senate committee members, Washington State Department of Commerce, Washington Economic Development Commission, the director for Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) Dan Newhouse, and the director of international marketing for WSDA, Janet Leister.

John Hannah of Pacific Valley Foods gave a private sector perspective of how Washington State can better assist companies involved in international trade. We are proud to represent the agricultural export industry. More importantly we will continue to stay involved in pertinent discussions and activities regarding agricultural trade that will benefit our customers overseas.
2010 and beyond…
As we approach the end of the year, 2010 is shaking out to be another busy and successful year for Pacific Valley Foods. This year we participated for the first time at Gulfood in Dubai. The response we received from buyers was tremendous and we will be returning to Gulfood late February of 2011. In April, several Pacific Valley Foods personnel joined our Singapore distributor at Food & Hotel Asia, April 20th-23rd. Again we enjoyed a successful show, sampling new products and securing new contacts from buyers in Singapore as well as all over Asia. Working in our industry is truly a global experience as Mr. Steve Cooley encountered during that trip. In addition to working the show in Singapore, Steve traveled as part of the Western United States Agricultural Trade Association (WUSATA) trade mission to Indonesia and Thailand. The visit to Indonesia provided an excellent opportunity to visit with buyers one on one as well as conduct store visits. Unfortunately, the political unrest in Bangkok back in April prevented the trade mission group from traveling to Thailand after the show. As always, international travel can be unpredictable, however Steve is looking forward to future planned trips back to Thailand.

We look forward to a very successful 2011, continuing our push towards expanding into new countries and offering additional new products to current and prospective buyers. Currently we will be exhibiting at the following trade shows in 2001; Gulfood February 27th – March 2nd, HOFEX (Hong Kong) May 11th – 14th, Seoul Food & Hotel Korea April 27th – April 30th, and Food & Hotel Shanghai November 9th -11th. Please check back periodically for any updates.
